This agreement is between BrightSync (Pretoria, South Africa) and you, the subscriber, from the day your first Web Essentials payment goes through. We've written it the way we'd explain it to you over WhatsApp.

1. What we build for you

We design, build, host and look after a professional landing-page website for your business — one focused page that tells people who you are, what you do, and how to get hold of you.

We build with modern code — HTML, CSS, and in most cases the Astro framework. That means a site that loads fast, ranks well, and has no bloated plugins to break or get hacked. It is not a drag-and-drop template site.

Included for as long as you're subscribed: hosting, SSL (the padlock), mobile-responsive design, basic SEO setup, a working contact form, and ongoing maintenance.

2. What Web Essentials does not include

Web Essentials is deliberately a simple, fast landing page. At this price it does not include:

  • Online payments or checkout of any kind. Your website will not process card payments, hold a shopping cart, or connect to a payment gateway.
  • E-commerce — product catalogues, stock levels, shipping, or order management.
  • Customer accounts, logins, or member-only areas.
  • Booking, scheduling, or inventory systems.
  • Custom integrations with your CRM, accounting software, or other tools.
  • AI automations, chatbots, or automated lead follow-up.

None of this is off the table — it's just a different plan. If your business grows into it, we'll quote you honestly and move you up. See our other plans.

3. Your domain

If you don't have a domain name yet (like yourbusiness.co.za), we register one for you and cover it as part of your subscription. You choose the name, subject to availability.

If you already own a domain, you keep it — we simply point it at your new website. You stay the owner throughout.

Where we registered the domain on your behalf, we hold it for you while you're subscribed. Section 5 explains exactly when and how it becomes yours.

4. Changes to your website

Your subscription includes ongoing changes. Send us a request on WhatsApp or email and we'll action it within 7 working days — usually much sooner.

Included changes:

  • Editing any text on the site
  • Changing, adding, or removing images
  • Adding a new page
  • Removing a page
  • Adding or changing an email address, phone number, or other contact detail
  • Updating your business hours, prices, or service list

Not included as a "change": anything that turns your website into a different kind of product — for example converting a landing page into a full e-commerce store, adding payment processing, adding customer logins, or building a booking system. Those are new work at a new price, not a text edit. We'll always tell you upfront which side of the line a request falls on, before we start.

Fair use applies: this is a real human doing real work, not an unlimited ticket machine. In practice we've never had to enforce that — just don't send us a redesign every week.

5. Who owns the website — the 12-month rule

This is the part we most want you to read, so here it is straight:

If you stay subscribed for 12 months or more, the website is yours. Should you ever decide to stop working with us, we will:

  • Hand over the complete website source code — free, at no extra cost;
  • Transfer the domain into your name or to your new provider — free, at no extra cost.

No exit fee, no holding your website hostage, no "release fee" that appears at the last minute. You paid for 12 months; you own what we built.

If you cancel before 12 months, the source code and any domain we registered for you remain ours. If you'd still like to take the website with you, tell us — we'll quote you a fair once-off amount to buy it out, and you're free to say no.

6. Billing and cancellation

Web Essentials is billed monthly through Paystack, our payment provider. We never see or store your card details.

You can cancel at any time — there's no lock-in contract and no cancellation penalty. Your website stays live until the end of the month you've paid for.

If a payment fails, we'll let you know and give you a chance to sort it out before anything is taken offline. If a subscription stays unpaid, we may suspend the website until it's brought up to date.

Optional add-on: a professional email address on your own domain (like hello@yourbusiness.co.za) for R20 more per month — R219 in total. You choose it at checkout, and it can be added later if you change your mind.

7. What we need from you

We can only move as fast as we get things from you. To build your site we'll need your logo (if you have one), a few photos, your contact details, and a rough idea of what you want to say. If you don't have any of that, we'll help you put it together — just don't go quiet on us.

You confirm that any content you send us — text, images, logos, videos — is yours to use, or that you have permission to use it. You remain responsible for the accuracy of the claims, prices, and information published on your website.

8. Support and reasonable expectations

You reach us on WhatsApp, phone, or email — same people who built your site, not a call centre. Our working hours are Monday to Friday, 8AM–6PM SAST. We do read messages outside of those hours; we just can't promise to act on them until the next working day.

We work hard to keep your site fast and online, but no one on earth can promise 100% uptime. We aren't liable for losses caused by downtime, by third-party providers (hosting, domain registrars, email providers, Paystack), or by content you asked us to publish.

This agreement is governed by South African law, and sits alongside our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. Where this agreement is more specific about the Web Essentials plan, this agreement applies.

9. Changes to this agreement

If we ever need to update these terms, we'll tell existing subscribers before the change takes effect — and the 12-month ownership promise in Section 5 will never be reduced for anyone already subscribed under it.

Questions before you subscribe?

Ask us anything — there's no such thing as a silly question here, and we'd much rather explain it now than have you guess.
